Choosing the Right Size

We are often asked how big a unit to put in. Underestimate and you will be renting twice; overestimate and you are paying for room you do not use.

A&A has five options for the job:

• 5-cubic-yard: suited to tight quarters and a small cleanout
• 10-cubic-yard: for a modest yard project or one room
• 20-cubic-yard: if the home cleanout is on a larger scale
• 30-cubic-yard: for substantial landscaping or renovation
• 40-cubic-yard: commercial debris and major construction

What You Can and Cannot Throw Away

There are limits to what a dumpster can take. Certain things are off limits for environmental reasons and the safety of our staff.

Do not put these in the rental:

• Tires
• Batteries
• Paint
• Motor oil
• Any household cleaners

They require special disposal. As for general clutter, construction scrap and old furniture, those are fine. If you have any question on an item, ask.

Smoother Weekend with Some Planning

You will be surprised how much a plan helps when you have a lot of debris to put through. Too often a person will start without one and be at his wits’ end by the middle of it.

To keep the work flowing:

• Put your mind to one section of the property and stick with it
• Make your keep, donate and toss piles first
• Dismantle the big boxes and furniture to make room in the dumpster
• Heavier stuff goes in before the lighter material to fill in
• Put aside anything prohibited
• Have the dumpster delivered the day you intend to put in the work
